What is one specific thing about your own neighborhood (examples – a facility, abandoned property, rail crossings, etc.) that is a barrier to this vision?
What is one specific thing about your own neighborhood (examples – a community garden, a very good school, a strong community organization, etc.) that is a step towards this vision?

My vision of a modal neighborhood, would be similar to the one I live in. Rosadale Park, (Historic community) is a quite community, where when you move in, the block club president or assistant comes to welcome you to the block. They bring you a list of all of your new neighbors (name, address, and phone numbers)in that specific block, along with other important contact information about the community and it’s activities (dues, annual functions, youth programs, etc.). People are very caring and work together to keep the community beautiful, each block has a center island that we decorate. We have a multi-block yard sale once a year, a juneth parade, a community dinner every February, to meet and greet any new residents. Their is private security provided, and the sidewalks/streets are plowed for you (paid for by the $45 a year dues). Many of the people who live in this community also have businesses within it, and most if not all of the community patronizes them. And of course there are several youth projects like sports, and dance/cheerleaders, and a carnival once every summer.
Things are changing though. Many people are have lost their homes and other are facing foreclosure or having to walk away because the houses have lost to much value,(myself included). The images are startling some of the empty house are being broken into and stiped of thier jewels (glass doorknobs, lead class windows, and other unique materials) used in the craftmanship of these historic homes. Today it still has the feeling of family, were people are sincerely concered about one anohter. But the changes are troublesome.

My Vision of a Model Neighborhood
There is a great vision of my neighborhood to me. There are several barriers in my neighborhood but one in particular that has to be changed. Which is the abandoned houses that are hazardous to my community and the children in my community. For example, there are broken glass in fields that little kids play in my neighborhood which comes from people throwing it from burnt houses in my area. There are tires, burnt wood, old clothes from old houses with mildew and all kinds of other hazardous bacteria. People using the abandoned houses to sale drugs out of which is another way my vision of a model neighborhood is very hard.
A step toward my vision is that some people in the neighborhood are trying to keep people from throwing abandoned material in these fields in our neighborhood. My vision steps are to fix our community park with new basketball rims and new play ground areas for the kids to have some where to play. I also want to have on Saturdays invite the kids to the park for a free lunch and activities that may hopefully very well make a difference in my neighborhood. Start a strong community organization that will meet every 2 weeks and discuss issues that we have in our community and what we can do to change them. Overall we have to take one step at a time and I know that if we stick together as a community we can make a change.
Thank You

My Vision Of a Model
My vision is fairly plain and simple. It would be a nice upscale community kind of like the 1 i stay in now. Very nice, clean afforable homes. Very few vacant homes if any. Close to major businesses and highways. And last but not least a community organization.
People that live together should stick together. This is why there is very few crime where i saw at. Everyone knows the person thats stays left and right of them. The allows everyone tho get a friendly relationship with their neighbors. By this going on in communitys it puts them together very effective.
My vision of a model neighborhood is a safe environment not only for kids but for everyone. There would be block clubs and cleaner parks around the area. We will have meetings to keep our neiborhoods clean. My area right now is working towards perfection. Everyone down my street keep their area clean and they are starting to leave notes in front of others houses to keep the property clean. I think it would be better if all of the people got together and focused on helping each other communication is very important to building a model neighborhood.
My vision of a model neighborhood is for the most part neighborly love. We would look out for each other and make sure the children in the neighborhood are safe. The grass would be cut every Sunday and if I`m hurt or away my neighbor will take care of the grass for me. All the houses will be solar power, with geothermal heating, and recycling bins on every corner, and every house.
The whole neighborhood will be closed in where no outsiders can come in unless there invited. We will tolarate no violentice at all.
The school system will be at the top of the nation, with kindergarden through 12th. Our own police force, no industrial work within miles of our neighborbood, for better health. We would have neighborhood meetings whenever someone new moved in so we can know who we`re living with. There would be a block party at least twice a year so we can stay in touch on whats going on with eachother. No vacant houses , and if there is it will be so well taking care of you would`nt no is vacant. Thats my vision.
My neighborhood may need a bit of work to get it to were i think iy should be, but there are good qualities to it. Children can be seen playing outside, and my neighbors are friendly enough. We’ve been able to help each other when we notice someone’s car was stuck in the snow and the like. We always speak to one another (especially my grandmother). And those of us who have been here for quite some time, may even go as for as borrowing sugar in times of need. So even though me don’t have a block club, there’s at least some sense of community here.
Although there is some sense of togetherness, my neighborhood should take responsibility for its refuse. Recently a neighbor had gotten new furniture, and simple threw the old stuff out onto the curb. There was no attempt to put it up until our block’s bulk pick-up, or thought as to how it was placed. But there it sits for the better part of two weeks now. Add to that, that for the most part their garbage bin on the street. We have to realize that simple things, like bringing in our trash cans, make all the difference in making our neighborhood a cleaner and nicer place for everyone to live. My vision needs the parts to help take care of the whole.
My vision of a model neighborhood would be a place where everyone is peaceful and where they create a strong bond with each other. A place where everyone acts as a whole, and not as individuals while treating each other with love and respect. My vision wouldn’t consist of any abandoned houses or abandoned buildings. It would have clean parks, better schools and block clubs. I would like to live in a neighborhood where one day my kids can play outside without any problems. I would like to live in a place where streets are kept clean and lawns are freshly cut every week. Ii would be non-violent and drug-free community. Hopefully, one day my vision will become a reality!
